Spring Charity

During April and May, as we celebrate the coming of green grass, the blooming of flowers and the warming of our lakes, we will be donating $100 for every new listing we put on the market to the local non-profit People for Parks. We’ve asked each Berg Larsen Group agent how they use the local park systems and what they enjoy most about it. Here’s a look at how business partner and professional Realtor Chad Larsen enjoys our park system.

What are some of your favorite features of the park system?
Chad: “I drive the Minneapolis parkways, part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway System, daily on my way to my office, to appointments, and on the way home. They are special to me, as it allows me to take in the beautiful scenery that city offers: steam coming off Cedar Lake on a chilly morning; the rough waters of Calhoun on a windy day; deer grazing in the woods, the fall colors glinting on the trees by the morning sunrise, driving, windows down and the smell of fresh cut grass to fill the nose; the moon rising over the park on a late-night drive. I could keep going on and on, the constant changes of nature are beautiful.”

What do the parks mean to you, personally?
Chad: “Each day, as I drive by the parks or look out my office window at Lake Calhoun, I look for something I haven’t seen or appreciated before. As seasons change, so does nature. From wildlife bustling, weather influencing the environment and the lakes, freezing and thawing, constantly providing to people and animals. The parks and parkways area respite from the busy world led inside 4 walls. That is what the Minneapolis Parks means to me. How about for you?”

What do you like about the People for Parks organization?
Chad: “I love that People for Parks engages children in swim programs so that they too can safely swim and enjoy the Minneapolis lakes for years to come.  As a child, swimming in the lake was a huge treat for me. This joy was made possible through swimming lessons at “camp”. I recognize my good fortune, the ramifications for life safety (I became a certified lifeguard in high school), and the opportunities recreationally.”

People for Parks describes themselves as, “a non-profit organization created to stimulate financial and community support for Minneapolis Parks from citizens, businesses and organizations. We carry out special projects in cooperation with our donors and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Our purpose is to sponsor programs and projects that enhance and promote our city's park services and facilities.”

From planting trees, to improving playgrounds, to neighborhood engagement activities and so much more, People for Parks works hard at contributing to improvement and growth of our incredible park systems, which we all use. Parks create community in our neighborhoods, allowing neighbors from all backgrounds and ages to enjoy a beautiful safe setting in magnificent nature.
