Kate Wall, a business partner, and realtor with the Berg Larsen Group has a sweet treat for us today! This Buttermilk Coffee Cake recipe goes to show that Kate’s expertise isn’t just in real estate, she’s also known for her hospitality. Who wouldn’t want to have a cup of coffee, some of this delicious cake, and a wonderful conversation?

Buttermilk Coffee Cake

Preheat oven to 325℉ |  Grease two 8” glass pie pans


❖    2-¼ cups all-purpose flour

❖    1 cup packed brown sugar

❖    ¾ cup granulated sugar

❖    1 tsp salt

❖    1 tbsp butter

❖    ¾ cup canola oil

❖    1 egg (room temperature)

❖    2 tsp baking soda

❖    1 cup buttermilk


❖    In a large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt - until it resembles sand

❖    Add butter and canola oil

❖    Mix well - set aside ¾ cup of this for the topping

❖    Add egg, baking soda, and buttermilk to the remaining mixture

❖    Divide batter between two pie pans

❖    Evenly sprinkle the reserved topping over both pans

❖    Bake for 25-30 mins - do not overbake

❖    Cool and enjoy!
