Sometimes, the best holiday memories happen far away from home.

For Barry Berg, there were many wonderful Christmas ski vacations in years past to Sun Valley, Idaho or Snowmass/Aspen, Colorado. Barry recalls, “As a family, we have shared memories as much about the ambience, music and celebrations in those locales as about the beautiful days spent on the slopes.” 

In addition to being a family of skiers, Barry’s daughter was a competitive figure skater. 

“We have memories of her skating during vacations and of ‘ice shows’ featuring many of the top national and international skaters,” says Barry. 

Christmas ‘Up North’ with Krista Eull

As children grow older, oftentimes our holiday traditions grow as well. For Krista Eull, that means two Christmases at the North Shore on Lake Superior.

“It’s one of my favorite places to be in summer, but winter for some reason is really quite magical up there and we love it,” says Krista. “Christmas 2021 was spent at a rental home in Grand Marais with incredible lake views, where we enjoyed three winter hikes in the woods, skiing and snowboarding for those who partake (not me!) and lots of good food, game playing and movie watching.” 

Of course, Minnesota travelers beware. Krista jokes, “It was a joy of a trip despite driving home in a literal blizzard.”
